Estève was an abstract painter and a central figure of Tachism. He was born in Culan. His family moved to Pairs in 1913. He worked for a year as a designer in a textile factory in Barcelona, and he later attended the free course at the Académie Colarossi where he studied the works of Fouquet and Uccello in the Louvre and particularly admired Cézanne. Estève took part in the Venice Biennale in 1954, and his works are established in most major art museums.
