Berthold Mahn

(1881-1975) French

Berthold Mahn was a French illustrator and designer who started his career at the young age of sixteen. His first job was working in a factory with furnaces and stoves and he went on to pursue his artistic talent by enrolling at the School of Applied Arts Duperre in Paris. Inspired and encouraged by the French painter and philosopher Albert Gleizes, whom he met during his military service, Mahn is best known for his portrait, landscape, and genre paintings, as well as lithography and camouflage art.
