This original lithographic poster was designed by Charles Lapicque to promote the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. There was an edition of 4,000 of the poster signed in the plate and an additional edition of 200 signed and numbered in pencil.
This poster is from the regular edition of 4,000, however since they were used all around Europe for the promotion, very few have survived. The style is very representative of Lapicque who in 1943 was only able to give up his job as an engineer through a contract with the Gallery Louis Carre. From that time on, he dedicated himself completely to art and created many works with the liberation of Paris as their theme.
