This colorful lithographic poster was printed for an exhibition of Atelier Mourlot prints in Tokyo at the Seibu Department Stores Art Museum in 1984. Here, an original lithograph by Fernand Leger entitled "Marie L'Acrobate" from 1948, was faithfully reproduced by Henri Deschamps, one of the artist's closest collaborator at the studio.
Fernand Leger's subjects ranged from the modern industrial world, including workers and new buildings and factories, to leisure time and the countryside. In this case, he depicted one of the performers from the circus he attended, Marie the Acrobat.
