This poster was created for an exhibition of Mourlot prints at the famous Montparnasse Brasserie "La Coupole", as an homage to what would have been Fernand Mourlot's centennial. La Coupole was located near the Mourlot studio and had been a refuge for regular patrons such as Simone De Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, André Dérain, Colette, Tamara de Lempicka, Hemingway and Josephine Baker since 1927. The enormous Art-Deco dining room is classified as a historic monument.
The image chosen is a reproduction of an original lithograph by Leger that was also printed by Mourlot in 1953. Master printer Henri Deschamps who had worked with Leger for many years, was tasked to reproduce the work. Ed. 1000.
