Jean Cocteau Poteries by Jean Cocteau
Artist: Jean Cocteau
Medium: Lithographic Poster, 1958
Dimensions: 25 x 19 in, 63.5 x 48.3 cm
This vintage poster was designed for a Pottery exhibition at the Tribunal de Peche de Villefranche sur Mer. During his career, Cocteau made more than three hundred ceramic pieces at the workshop of Madeline Jolly, drawing parallels from the color of skin to the pink color of clay on which he ‘tattooed’ his drawings. Entitled ‘Astrologie’, the surreal design in this poster was later transferred to an earthenware dish.
