Lithographic poster produced for an exhibition at Galerie Louise Leiris in 1962. Picasso made around 40 works inspired by "Le déjeuner sur l'herbe" by Édouard Manet between 1959 and 1962. These were a series of variations produced with various artistic disciplines such as printing, painting, drawing and ceramics.
The Poster was designed by Henri Deschamps and supervised by Picasso, using as subject an oil painting from the series of variations on Manet's work, "Le Dejeuner sur L'Herbe". Painted in Vauvenargues on July 12, 1961, the painting is in now in the Picasso Museum in Paris. Ed. 2550. Ref. Czwiklitzer #214.
