Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was a French painter famous for leaving the beginning of what would become the impressionist movement. The focal point of much of Renoir's artwork was beauty, usually coming in the form of a feminine muse. Renoir did not officially begin studying art until 1862 when he begin to learn under Charles Gleyre in Paris. In 1874 Renoir was a part of the first impressionist exhibition alongside Monet, Sisley and Pissarro.
