This is an original lithograph by Marc Chagall from the illustrated edition of the play "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare which was published by André Sauret in 1975 printed on the presses of Mourlot in Paris. This project was very important to Chagall as he saw many similarities to his own life and experiences as a refugee and émigré in the play. This is an unsigned printer's proof aside from the regular edition. It is annotated by the Mourlot Studio as such. Published by Éditions André Sauret, Monte-Carlo. Ed. 250 with a further 20 Artist Proofs. Ref. Mourlot # 858.
