This colourful lithographic poster illustrates the painting Woman with Hat from 1939. Dora Maar served as the model for the original painting in which she wears a broad-rimmed flowered hat with a strikingly cubist inspired green face, creating a truly captivating image.
This poster was designed in homage to the printer and founder of Atelier Mourlot - Fernand Mourlot. He changed the fabric of printing, inspiring a resurgence in lithography. Cultivating lithograph as a painter’s medium. Fernand was close friends with many celebrated artists, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Mach Chagall, Georges Braque, Joan Miro and Fernand Léger. Picasso’s collaboration with the Mourlot studio was extensive, creating hundreds of prints over the course of his career.
