Classic Poster Paper - Good Condition A
This beautiful lithographic poster was created for an homage exhibition organized by Julien Cain, the former director of the Bibliothèque Nationale of France, at the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris in 1965, two years after the death of Jean Cocteau. Pablo Picasso was approached and agreed to use a portrait of his old friend that he had drawn in 1916, when Cocteau was serving as an ambulance driver during World War I, for the event's promotional poster. Of course, Picasso and Cain, asked another of Cocteau's old friends, Fernand Mourlot, to produce that lithographic image. Mourlot's Master Printer, Henri Deschamps, as per usual was asked to create the original drawing's reproduction. Ed. 2,000. Ref. Czwiklitzer # 257.
