About:
Masson was mostly associated with Surrealism. He believed that forcing himself into a reduced state of consciousness would help his art be free from rational control and hence get him closer to the workings of his subconscious mind. He experimented with altered states of consciousness with other artists such as Miro and Dubuffet.
