In this lithographic poster used for an exhibition of the Mourlot Collection in Tokyo in 1884, one of Braque's earlier original lithographs is faithfully reproduced by Henri Deschamps.

This majestic bird soars high in the sky at dawn, crossing a cloud, representing both peacefulness and freedom from the world below. The imagery of the birds is very significant in Braque's work. While graceful and symmetrical, birds are also very symbolic. During the summer of 1955, Braque visited a bird sanctuary in Camargue, an experience that furthered his interest and led to many works that include birds in their compositions.
