This lithographic poster was designed  for Salon de Mai in 1970.

This lithographic poster was created to promote the Salon de Mai (the May Salon) exhibition of 1970 in Saint Germain-en-Laye, France. The image chosen that year was a painting by Picasso from the 1960's, which was reproduced under his supervision by Mourlot Master Printer, Henri Deschamps.

The "Salon de Mai" was an exhibit of several French artists which formed in a café on the Rue Dauphine in Paris in 1943 during the German occupation of France.

In 1946, it was organized on the fourth floor of the famous department store "Les Galeries Lafayettes" and in 1947 it was held at the art gallery "Arts" on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in 1948 at the art gallery Lambert-Marie on the place Vendôme. Only in 1949 was the Salon de Mai organized in the large rooms of the "Palais de New-York" (Avenue du Président Wilson), which then hosted it until 1954.

It was not until then that it was finally held at the "Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris" and this until 1968. Its founder members were the art critic Gaston Diehl and the painters, sculptors and engravers Henri-Georges Adam.
